The 1st day of spring also marks the closing date for applications to the CAO. With the exception of restricted courses, e.g. Medicine, students do not have to enter any course choices as this can be done from 5th May up to 1st July using the CAO’s Change of Mind Facility.
Students applying through the DARE Scheme, as part of the CAO application process, are reminded that Section A of the Supplementary Form must be completed by 1st March.
Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) College Applications
All PLC colleges are now open for application 2017/18. PLC courses can offer students an opportunity to sample a specific course area, e.g. Psychology, prior to committing to a full-time Degree programme at 3rd Level. In addition some courses can give students the time to prepare portfolios for application to colleges including NCAD and Dun Laoghaire. Many students use PLC courses as their back-up in the event of not meeting the entry requirements for their desired course at I.T. or University.
Application to PLC’s are made on-line directly to each institution. Students require their PPS number when applying and interviews at our two local PLC Institutes, O’Fiaich and Drogheda Institute, take place during the second week of May.
All Junior and Leaving Certificate exam students have received the mock exam timetable. Exams commence in Finnamore Hall on Monday 6th February and we wish all students every success. It is also important to highlight mindfulness over the two weeks of examinations. Students should ensure they eat well, exercise and take adequate study breaks.
