Junior Cycle (1st-3rd Year Secondary)

All students are prepared for the Department of Education’s Junior Cycle Certificate examinations.

The compulsory subjects are Irish*, English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Science, Business Studies, Religion, SPHE (Social, Political and Health Education), CSPE (Civil, Social and Personal Education), PE (Physical Education) and a continental language***.

Each pupil selects two optional subjects from the following: Home Economics, Woodwork, Music, Art and Craft, Technology, Technical Graphics and Physical Education. 

* Official exemption from Irish is permitted to pupils whose education up to the age of eleven has taken place outside the Republic of Ireland. 

*** All pupils study either French, German or Spanish – classes offered depend on sufficient demand.
