Remembering Eamonn Browne RIP

Like many this morning you’re waking up, shocked and saddened at Eamonn’s sudden passing.

It’s hard to comprehend, given that we celebrated his retirement from the school only a few short weeks ago.

We all have our own memories of this gentleman. He always made time to stop and chat, a check-in to see how you were doing.

He was a great man for advice, especially when it came to keeping the weeds and moss at bay. Never one for off the shelf product “a drop of bleach or white vinegar mixed with a sprinkle of washing powder from Aldi or Lidl” – the home remedies he championed.

Colour schemes, colour charts, the best brand of exterior paint – Eamonn was the go-to, he would even tell you the shop to get it in, the sales assistant to ask for and a parting -” and tell them Eamonn sent you.”

He was open about his own ups and downs in life and a great support to so many students, particularly among our boarding community.

On the 31st May DGS lost a great friend and one of life’s true gentlemen.

Rest easy Eamonn.
