Success at the Inter Schools Eventing Championships for Dundalk Grammar School

Dundalk Grammar School were victorious in the Inter Schools Eventing Championships held at Killossery Lodge Stud on Saturday 5th October 2013.  In Eventing, the competitors have to complete three disciplines, dressage, show jumping and cross country on the day and all scores are counted.

The Dundalk Grammar team won the Novice eventing championships and were presented with a fabulous cup, trophies and rugs for the horses.  The team were:

  • Molly McClean on Springview Ash scoring 35 in dressage, clear in show jumping and cross country
  • Jane McClean on Little Dougie scoring 35 in dressage, clear in show jumping and cross country
  • Sean Bird on Tally Ho Boy scoring 39.9 in dressage, 4 in show jumping and clear cross country
  • James McQuade on Master Harney scored 30.5 in dressage, 4 in show jumping and clear cross country

The combined lowest score counts and DGS won by a narrow margin of one penalty.  Individually, Jane McClean finshed second and James McQuade finshed 6th.

In the Open class Nina Simpson was placed 4th on Sommerville Improvise.
