5 Politics Class Visit Leinster House

5th Year Politics students visited Leinster House on Tuesday December 3. They picked the right day to go, as Leaders Question Time took place in the Dail on that afternoon.

The Dail Chamber was full, and the Taoiseach and most of his Ministers were present. Many topics were covered as the TDs asked a varied range of questions of the Taoiseach and his Ministers. For those who enjoy their Politics, it made for compulsive viewing, and the students spent the best part of 2 hours in the viewing gallery, and seemed to really enjoy the experience. There was also time to pay a brief visit to the Seanad.

They met a number of TDs, including Peter Fitzpatrick and Declan Breathnach, and also met past pupil and Louth Councillor John McGahon. The students were there at the invitation of Peter Fitzpatrick.

The students are enjoying their Politics course, and the class discussions are great. It’s a good time to be studying Politics, and very important that the students become engaged in political debate. Next up is a trip to the RTE Claire Byrne Live Show.

The students look forward to inviting more politicians into their class. John McGahon has already paid them a visit.

They are currently working on their Politics Projects.
